Leaving the Past Behind

Week 5 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
,
my art project for 2020.

The journal prompt this week
from France Papillon was
Me, version 2021.

If we jump forward to a year from now,
what message would we give our current selves.

What would our future selves
feel proud about achieving during 2020
& what things would we be happy
to have left behind.

I also used a graphic from
Nicole Warrington
on the reverse of the art journal card.

I used a Tim Holtz Paper Doll,
Distress Marker (black soot),
black Sakura Pigma Micron pen,
 photo corners by Paperchase,
washi tape
&
Tim Holtz idea-ology kraft paper stash
for the bases of the
Art Journal Cards & Inchies.

I used torn dictionary paper,
words cut from an old novel,
printed text &
K-ology Addison patterned paper.

Now that ...

I chose to use a quotation by William Morris.

"The true secret
of happiness
lies in taking
a genuine interest
in all the details
of daily life.
"

I found the poem this week on display
in a hospital waiting room,
on a noticeboard about memory loss.

The butterfly & caterpillars were cut out
from this week's Waitrose & Partners
Weekend newspaper.

The illustrations are by
Ann Edwards.

Change is something that is inevitable
& whilst it may not always be welcome,
it should never be feared.

 & photo corners by Paperchase.

I am using Tim Holtz idea-ology kraft paper stash

A Mellow Year

The start of my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
my art project for 2020.

Creating one page a week
throughout the year,
using a format that enables me
to create individual pieces
during each week
& pulling it all together
on the final day.

I used torn dictionary paper,
words cut from an old novel
& printed text.

I have not joined Wanderlust
at Everything Art this year,
a purposeful decision to enable me
to work freely in my own style
& to my own timetable.
