Thoughts of Summer

The theme for May at The Documented Life Project is
Touchy Feely
(Textures)

The Art Challenge for
Week 21.  Cheesecloth
& the Journal Prompt for
Week 21.  Say "Cheese"
On to a base of dried white gesso,
I added pieces of cloth with gel medium & left to dry thoroughly.

I added colour with acrylic paint & left to dry.

Then I added words cut from a supermarket newspaper,
Gelatos, glitter, Perfect Pearls, white Posca pen, Accent Beads ...

Not sure what this textile is - just something I found under the kitchen sink !

Summer Dreaming

The weather has been so beautiful lately,
that thoughts have turned to summer holidays, to travel, sun, sea & sand,
so this week's project has been to alter an unwanted cd into a summer decoration.

I used papers from the K & Company Travel Vacation collection,
designed by Tim Coffey.

The colours are so soft & fresh, with vintage images.

I sanded the edges to add a little a touch of faded age.

Both front & back were covered & decorated,
so as it spins & turns in the gentle summer breezes,
it looks good from any direction.

I added a couple of stamped images using Non sequitur rubber stamps (postcard & postmark)
with Distress Ink (brushed corduroy).

I covered the coin images with Glossy Accents.

I punched a hole through the top, using a Crop-a-dile
& used string to create my hanging loop.

Then I made a travel tag, using mountboard to add strength.

This was attached to the cd through another hole with more string.

Where will you be going this summer?

Will there be blue skies, sandy beaches,
heavy luggage, foreign coins,
boat trips & trees swaying in warm tropical breezes?

Will you take photographs,
send postcards home to loved ones
or will they be there with you?

Will there be adventures & new experiences?

Thoughts of Summer

The challenge this week on Wednesday Stamper is Sunshine.

Sunshine always reminds me of long hot summers, so I decided to celebrate the summer
by making a cheerful banner, so even if the sun isn't shining outside, it will be indoors.

I printed out my letters on paper from the Shabby Princess Sun Porch range.

The heart stamp is by Crafty Individuals & all other stamps by Anna Griffin.

I like to finish off my projects properly, so even the back looks nice
& you can't see how the letters are joined together.

It wouldn't be summer without butterflies, a little summer loving & flowers, naturally.

Summer

The challenge this week on Make a Moo or Two is
Summer.

It's summertime &
the girls have gone to the beach
to enjoy the glorious sunny weather.

The image is from art-e-zine.

I have used a clear stamp by Anna Griffin,
gold stickles &
it was edged with my Krylon 18ct gold leafing pen.

Summer Days

This is my inchie for this weeks Inching Artists challenge, which is Shadows.

I printed out an image onto glossy photo paper. I then inked over the image with Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Ink (butterscotch) and used a drop or two of the Alcohol Blending Solution.

The wording was backed with black card to add further shadows. Finally I have inked around the edge of the inchie with black ink.
