Lost in the Moment

Week 31 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

This week's journal prompt
from France Papillon was
toes in the sand.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

The images are from the Graphics Fairy,
the photo corners by Paperchase.

There are words cut
from an old novel
& printed text.

Beneath the surface

Week 30 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

This week's journal prompt
from France Papillon was
under the surface.

I used a Fiskars template to create
the wavy cut at the top of the page
& a white Royal Sovereign
Chinagraph pencil
to doodle.

There are words cut
from an old novel
& a word definition
from an old dictionary.

The seashell is a double-layer
with writing hidden beneath
the top image.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

The images are from the Graphics Fairy,
the photo corners by Paperchase.

There is printed text
& washi tape.

There was a debate
as to which way up
this image should be.

So this quotation,
which I saw twice this week,
solved the problem.

A brad through the centre of the compass
allows it to be rotated.

100 Days of Daily Collage - The End

This blog post marks the conclusion of my
100 Days
of Daily Collage
project.

Day 99

I used a pack of playing cards
which were 2½ by 3½ inches.

Day 100
bitter end
comes from a nautical term.
It is the end of a rope
wound round a post,
called a bitt.

Here they all are.

The 100 days passed quickly.

I enjoyed the reason to focus
on a specific project each morning.

Thank you for following along.

CREDITS
For collage fodder,
I used sample squares from
a Vanessa Arbuthnott catalogue,
images from an old edition of
The National Trust Handbook
& definitions from
Foyle's Further Philavery.

I was going to create a short video,
but it would having been very boring for you to watch.

Into the deep

Week 29 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

I may add some doodling,
I may not ...

This week's journal prompt
from France Papillon was
into the deep.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

The diamond fish eye is a reminder
that this week we celebrated
my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary.

If you regret the past,
this can lead to depression.

If you worry about the future,
this can lead to anxiety.

Aim to live in the present moment,
being mindful of all you do.

photo corners by Paperchase,
words cut from an old novel,

Swimming in a sea of emotion

Week 28 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

A new month means
a new journal theme from France Papillon
which for July is
Ocean.

The first prompt was
sea me.

A new month also means
a new design focus for my journal,
which for July is
shibui.

From the weekend
pubs, restaurants & cafes,
hairdressers & barbers
were allowed to reopen.

Several have already had to close
due to the spread of the virus.

I am in no hurry to "get back to normal".

For me it will be a waiting game.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

The calendar, fish
& vintage advertisement images
are from the Graphics Fairy.

There are also
photo corners by Paperchase,
a dictionary definition,
words from an old novel,
printed text &
washi tape.

Pause for a Moment to Reflect

Week 27 in my
Mellow Kraft Journal
so this week I decided to do a summary of the year so far.

My word for 2020 is
Mellow.

I printed out a calendar from the Graphics Fairy,
to use as my colour palette each month.

When this year began,
we had no idea of the world pandemic
which was about to affect all our lives.

It has changed the world we live in,
changed our lives
& altered our futures.

I referenced the stages in my journal
subtly at first,
then ever more directly.

Each month I chose a further word as my focus,
from Japanese aesthetics & design principles.

January was
kintsugi
February was
fukinsei
March was
kanso
April was
seijaku
May was
yūgen
June was
datsuzoku

I also followed the weekly journal prompts
by France Papillon.

This week the prompt was
talk to yourself

So each weekly page became an amalgam of all these elements.

There are quotes, hidden words,
images & doodles.

Colour, shapes & patterns.

All this creates a journal,
which is very personal
& very meaningful to me.

In this moment I stop & pause
to reflect & absorb,
before moving forward again.

On this page
 are photo corners by Paperchase,
printed text,
doodles with a Sakura Pigma pen,
words cut from an old novel,
a Paper Doll by Tim Holtz
 & washi tape.
