Art Journal Week 37

This is my art journal page for week 37.

The prompt this week on Colour Me Positive is Change.

The two Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) use graphics from BGU.

This week saw the launch of the first British polymer banknote, a £5 note.

I like the smaller size & the transparent section.

The background has a white gesso base coat & colour added using
Gelatos (Margarita Mix/Orange Soda & Chocolate)
Distress Crayon (mustard seed & spiced marmalade)
Distress Ink (spiced marmalade)
Tim Holtz Stencil (Dot Fade)

The grid was drawn in with a Stabilo All Black Pencil.

Art Journal Week 36

This is my art journal page for Week 36.

I followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive (CMP), which this week was Travel.

I decided to sign up for Wanderlust 2017 this week.

The inchies are from BGU.

The Artist Trading Card was made for The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge.

You can read more about it here.

To create the background
I used Distress Crayons
(twisted citron/mermaid lagoon/peacock feathers)
over a white gesso base.

The grid was drawn with my Dylusions Black Paint Pen.

Here are the pages from week 35 & 36 together.

Always look on the bright side

The Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn is a year long creative challenge,
using a letter from the alphabet every two weeks as inspiration.

The next letter (as it is not being done in alphabetical order) is
O
& we must include the definition of our chosen word.

I have chosen the word
Optimism.

The image of the lady is from a Crafty Computer Paper CD.

The definition is torn from an old English dictionary
& the additional words are cut from an old book.

This ATC will have a place in my Art Journal for Week 36.

Art Journal Week 35

This is my art journal page for week 35.

The prompt this week on Colour Me Positive is Generosity.

The two Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) use a graphic from BGU.

The definition is torn from an old dictionary.

The inchie is also from BGU.

"I love square forms"
This inchie is a reminder of the Willem Sandberg exhibition
which I visited during this week.

We started a new month this week.

The three butterflies are from Crafty Computer Paper.

To create the page background,
I first coated the page in white gesso.

This time I used my Gelatos by Faber-Castell
(Snow Cone/Margarita Mix/Pistachio)
using my waterbrush
& my Dylusions paint pen
(black marble)
to create my grid & doodle.

Planning ahead

September has arrived
& with it thoughts of what next year might bring.

I am still enjoying working through my 2016 Art Journal,
using prompts from Colour Me Positive
& incorporating my Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)
made following
The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge letter prompts.

During the summer, I joined in with the
Index Card a Day (ICAD2016).
It was a fantastic way to interact with like minded artists,
so I hope to take part next year.

Also during the summer,
there was an online course by Tim Holtz
This was a recap of his two previous courses
prior to launching Creative Chemistry 103.

I enjoyed the summer,
creating without reason,
trying out new ideas,
working with new products & techniques,
without the pressure of creating a "finished" piece.

I want 2017 to be a year of freedom

exploring,
playing
& learning.

So with this in mind ...

I am planning to sign up for ...

For more detail, visit Everything Art.

This is a year long online course,
with 20+ fellow artists
sharing their knowledge,
style,
& ideas.
