Art Journal Week 20

This is the page in my art journal for week 20.

I have followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive (CMP),
which was about Wonder, using a word butterfly from BGU.

Also on this page is my Artist Trading Card (ATC)
for The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge. You can read more about it here.

I love this quote from Allen Klein.

"Your attitude is like a box of crayons that colour your world.
Try adding some bright colours by including humour"

To create the background, I first coated the page in white gesso,
then used my Stabilo All pencil to draw the grid.

I then dragged the colour into each shape using my Kuretake waterbrush.

Here are pages from Week 19 & 20 side by side.

All about the Attitude

The Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn is a year long creative challenge,
using a letter from the alphabet every two weeks as inspiration.

The next letter (as it is not being done in alphabetical order) is
A
& we must include the definition of our chosen word.

I have chosen the word
Attitude.

The image is from art-e-zine.

The words were cut from an old book
& the definition torn from an old English Dictionary.

This ATC will have a place in my Art Journal for Week 20.

Art Journal Week 19

This is my Art Journal page for Week 19.

I have followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive (CMP),
which this week was about Balance.

I first used this image years ago on a Moo card
& always think about it when I hear the word balance.

Words are my own.

Also on this page is a Truth Card for the week, using inspiration from BGU.

To create the background, I first coated the page in white gesso,
then used my Stabilo All pencil to draw the grid.

I then dragged the colour into each shape using my Kuretake waterbrush.

Art Journal Week 18

This is the page in my art journal for week 18.

I have followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive (CMP),
which was about Healing, with an additional prompt to include a heart.

Following on from last week's thoughts on friendship,
this week I discovered this quote from Susan Tolles.

"You should be your own best friend,
so treat yourself with kindness and unconditional love.
No harsh words or criticism!
Buy special gifts for yourself,
think positive thoughts and know that,
if you fully love yourself,
you can better express love to others."

Also on this page is my Artist Trading Card (ATC)
for The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge. You can read more about it here.

To create the background, I first coated the page in white gesso,
then added layers of acrylic paint (using Black, White & Aged Silver)
& finally a little sprinkle of Perfect Pearls (Pewter) from Ranger.

Here are pages from Week 17 & 18 side by side.

The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed a few revisions to the page for Week 17.

Life is a Journey

The Alpha Challenge at The Craft Barn is a year long creative challenge,
using a letter from the alphabet every two weeks as inspiration.

The next letter (as it is not being done in alphabetical order) is
J
& this week, in addition to the definition of our chosen word,
we must include a dragonfly.

Once again this addition does not work with my theme,
so I will continue just doing my own thing.

I have chosen the word
Journey.

The image of the lady is from Brenna Black's Flickr account.
I am hoping that she will agree to me being able to use this image
( as it is for personal use only ).

It was the the perfect image for my word.

There may be a few wrong turns along the way
& the occasional stop to refuel,
there may be different travelling companions at each stage
& maybe some sections that you travel alone,
but without travelling on this journey,
you will never reach your destination.

The words were cut from an old book
& the definition torn from an old English Dictionary.

This ATC will have a place in my Art Journal for Week 18.

Art Journal Week 17

This is my Art Journal page for Week 17.

This page holds my Truth Card for this month,
using patterned paper from
Brave Girl University (BGU).

The butterfly is also from BGU.

I have followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive (CMP),
which this week was about Friendship.

To create the background, I first coated the page in white gesso,
then added layers of acrylic paint (using Black, White & Aged Silver).

I finally added a little sprinkle of Perfect Pearls (Pewter) from Ranger.

Update

Whilst I was working on my page for Week 18,
on the opposite side of the journal,
I made a few revisions to this one.
