22 March 2020

That was the week that was

Week 12 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

The journal prompts this month
from France Papillon
are based on moodboards.

This week the theme was
visualise.

On 21st March
up popped a Facebook memory
from 4 years ago
of the haiku I had written for
World Poetry Day.

There is patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& Life's Journey Pansy patterned paper
from K & Company.

The butterfly & flower images are from
The Graphics Fairy &
I used a paper doll from Tim Holtz.

I used a white Posca Paint Pen
Distress Marker (black soot),
a gold uniball Signo pen
& a black Pigma pen.

I used a dictionary definition,
printed text,
Tim Holtz Design Tape
& photo corners by Paperchase.

For the bases of the
Art Journal Card & Inchies
 I am using up my
Tim Holtz idea-ology kraft paper stash.

Art Journal Week 3

I have followed the prompt on Colour Me Positive,
by using a Haiku I wrote last year

Every minute counts
As time passes by so fast
Each moment matters

The background is acrylic paint,
with Distress Ink (broken china)
overlaid using a Crafters Workshop stencil.

The paper shapes are torn from an old book, adhered with Mod Podge.

There was a moment of pure delight when I noticed the words on this square.

Serendipity in action.

I am trying to keep my pages simple, but varied.

I made an ATC inspire by the snowy day we had at the weekend.

The image of the girl is from Lisa's Altered Art
& the papers are from K & Company.

The image of the clock face is from The Graphics Fairy.

I have now added another graphic to this page, from Shanty2Chic.

My Art Journal is always a work in progress ...

Easter Haiku

For Easter this year, I am revisiting a project from a couple of years ago.

Rest in Peace

I'm back with a double page spread in my journal, this time I have used the pages

Sleep with the Journal
(Describe the experience here.)

I pressed my beautiful vintage rose, which I shared on Instagram.

This is a photograph of it in bloom.

Vintage Rose

Then as it faded & died.

Faded pale beauty
For time passes without care
Memories hold fast

I  covered a manilla tag in white gesso, then added Distress Ink
(tattered rose, milled lavender, dusty concord & picked raspberry),
stamping a script image in the picked raspberry.

The backing paper is old stock from Scissor Sisters (Textured Sage & Dusky Blue).

I attached my rose with washi tape
& added the elastic cord from around the bottle, to the top of the tag,

My rose can now rest in peace in my journal,
although I may be back to add a few more finishing touches.

Every minute counts

I have completed another collaged page, which finishes my first double page spread.

Every minute counts

I developed the time theme & composed a Haiku poem.

Every minute counts
As time passes by so fast
Each moment matters

Every minute counts, as time passes by so fast, each moment matters

I have used more images from Mary Green, added one further piece to the original page
& a little coloured tape here & there.

My last pages for January had to be reserved for my calendar.

Just Nonsense

The Craft Barn has revealed another letter in the Alpha Challenge, which has run throughout 2013.

I composed a Haiku for the back of the tag, inspired by Lewis Carroll & Halloween.

A poem to rhyme
and not to wit or too woo
nonsense it shall be

I used patterned papers Life's Journey Pansy by K & Company, & Distress Ink (antique linen).

Letters of Love

The next letter in The Craft Barn challenge for 2013, known simply as the Alpha Challenge, is the letter L.

The twist this week was to include a window.

I admit mine is more of a door than a window, held closed by a latch created by the letter L.

I composed a haiku for the back of my tag.

Deep thoughts you reveal
when your heart opens to me
letters of love sent

I used patterned papers Life's Journey Pansy by K & Company, Distress Ink (antique linen) & a strip of my handmade washi-style tape.

Mail Art

The theme this week for the Art House Challenge is flying, so in a flight of fancy, I have composed another Haiku to tell my story.

This is their prompt.

This is my response.

posted through the mail
my words journey towards you
on the wings of love

Created in my moleskine journal, using a page divided into eight 5.5cm squares to use for the challenges.

Walk with me

The Art House Challenge this week is to compose a Haiku about our shoes,
so I decided to leap in with both feet & join the challenge.

This is their prompt.

This is my response.

Walk in my footsteps
We both journey together
Forward in motion

I used my moleskine journal & divided a page into eight 5.5cm squares to use for the challenges.

The shoe image is from The Graphics Fairy.

Easter Bunting

For my Easter project this year I have made a paper bunting.

I composed a Haiku poem around the meaning of Easter.

take time to reflect

the forgiveness of pure love

as new life springs forth

I used the generous gift of rosy bunting from Gale at Paper Whimsy,
exquisite silk screen printed vellum by Papermania,
alpha stickers, 3mm pink pearls & twisted cord.
