Retro Easter
A project from a few years ago ...
Take the initial letter from each word to spell out
Easter.
Each one inch squared tile is cut from a sheet of mountboard,
covered front & back, in patterned paper from K & Company
I found six beautiful faces on Blanca's blog,
which I digitally remastered
(altered the colour, tone & resized).
The edges were sanded
to add a little aged, distressed, shabby feel.
After looking deeply into their eyes,
I gave each lady a description
which I felt matched their mood.
To add a hint of colour & focal interest,
I used Cherry Blossom flowers
leftover from my Nice n Easel decoupaged greeting cards.
These little beauties will stay on my desk throughout
Easter
& raise a smile each time I look at them ...

Easter Bunting
For my Easter project this year I have made a paper bunting.
I composed a Haiku poem around the meaning of Easter.
take time to reflect
the forgiveness of pure love
as new life springs forth
I used the generous gift of rosy bunting from Gale at Paper Whimsy,
exquisite silk screen printed vellum by Papermania,
alpha stickers, 3mm pink pearls & twisted cord.

Easter Beauties
I deliberated & cogitated over what to create for my Easter project this year
& settled on unashamedly stealing an idea from Joanna Urbani
& her gorgeous altered Scrabble tiles.
The initials of each themed tile together spell out a word or in her project,
the names of the delighted recipients.
I made mine out of mountboard inchies not Scrabble tiles
& mine spell out the word
Easter
Each one inch square of white mountboard was covered, front & back,
in patterned paper from K & Company designed by Brenda Walton.
The edges were sanded to add a little aged, distressed, shabby feel.

Easter Decoration
An altered cd made as an Easter decoration,
using paper & elements from Rhonna Farrer's Color my World digikit,
(from Two Peas in a Bucket)
& a bunny template from Inspire me!

After I finished my Easter design, the image was printed on white card.
The cd was covered both sides & edged with a Marvy Metallics gold pen.
I cut out three more bunnies,
sanded the edges to reveal the white cardstock underneath
& layered them using 3d foam.
I added a touch of gold Stickles for the eye & nose on the top layer.
I punched a hole through the top of the cd using a Crop-a-dile
& thread two pieces of brown polka dot organza ribbon through the hole
& tied with a knot.

Chocolate Easter Bunny
An Easter card, using paper & elements from Rhonna Farrer's Color my World digikit, available at Two Peas in a Bucket & a bunny template from Inspire me!

Once I had finished my design, it was printed out on white card & trimmed to size. The edges of the card were sanded to remove some of the ink, revealing the white card underneath.

There are three layers to the bunny, mounted using 3d foam & gold organza ribbon wrapped around the card & tied in a bow.

I also used a little glitter from my gelly roll stardust pen by Sakura.

With love at Easter
Time to think about making Easter cards & time to bring out those light pastel colours ...

I looked to Inspire me! for some inspiration & found their Easter Chick template. Perfect!

I used papers from the Shabby Princess Spring Breeze range & a Fiskars template to create the scalloped edge. The edges of the papers were sanded to remove some of the ink for a subtle shabby distressed look. The greeting was mounted using 3d foam, to add dimension.

White organza ribbon tied in a bow, wrapped around the back of the card.

A trio of pearls for the finishing touch.
I hope everyone has a peaceful Easter this year.

The challenge this week on Art Creations Friday was to use the wonderful textural background provided.
This is my digital collage, inspired by the bird image which seem to match the background colours perfectly.

May Day Festival
A scrapbook page for a forum challenge, where we had to include an outdoor photograph, yellow & green, flowers & ribbon.

The photographs, taken over this Bank Holiday weekend, show one of the many Morris Dancing groups which took to the streets as part of the festivities.
The paper & elements used are from the "She's No Spring Chicken" digital kit by The Queen of Quirk from Two Peas in a Bucket.

Dancing with the Daffodils
The challenge this week on Artarazzi was to incorporate the image provided into our artwork.
I followed the title of the painting "Spring Flowers" by Alma-Tadema Lawrence.

I made my own background, including one of my own photographs & adding a quote from William Wordsworth.
Here is my digital art journal page for this project.
