Going Green

Week 45 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

A new month means a new theme
from France Papillon,
which for November is
colour.

The first art journal prompt was
I am ...

I have used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth &
Brenda Walton's Brianna
patterned paper
from K & Company.

There are photo corners by Paperchase,
word definitions torn from an old dictionary,
dymo black tape,
words cut from an old novel
& printed text.

The calendar is from the Graphics Fairy
& the bird image from Shawn Petite.

A new month also means
a new design focus
sabi
which I will explore more next week.

Finally a reference to the new lockdown
taking place in England from November 5th.

All non-essential shops,
bars, cafes & restaurants
have closed their doors
(apart from click & collect sales & takeaways)
& we are to work from home if we can.

It is due to last for 28 days.

Trust

We began a second lockdown
on 5th November here in England,
which will run for 28 days,
so I decided to create a small junk journal
to work in each day.

It is the size of an ATC
(Artist Trading Card)
which is 2½ by 3½ inches,
with 28 pages.

The cover is kraft card,
the pages are from an old typing manual,
some already covered in acrylic paint.

The number 5 on the journal cover
is from a delivery label
from our new garden shed
which was delivered back in September.

Day 1

There are remnant rubs
by Tim Holtz
smudged colour from soft pastels
& a word definition from an old dictionary.

I will be using scraps of paper,
already printed butterflies &
other bits & pieces.

I will publish a blog post
on this project
just once a week.

I have chosen one of my family photographs

together with other family members.

As a country, we are again,
trying to take steps to balance & control
the current situation.

It is hard.

It is tough.

We will get through this.

Where do I begin?

Week 41 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

A new month means a new theme
from France Papillon,
which for October is
roots.

The first art journal prompt was
where.

I know where I was born,
but I did not grow up there,
so do not know the place where I was born.

I do not have anywhere which feels like home,
so I often experience the feeling of not belonging,
which gives me a welcomed sense of
freedom & independence.

A new month also means
a new design focus.

this week from

As the COVID 19 virus begins to
spread once more within our country,
I took the opportunity to visit my parents,
before restrictions on our freedom of movement
are reintroduced.

The aim is idealistic,
but we should try,
shouldn't we?

Time Out

Week 38 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

The art journal prompt
this week from
France Papillon was
the new want.

This week we took a trip to the coast.
It was the first time this year
that we had seen the sea.

We walked & talked,
had a picnic lunch
sitting high on the sand dunes
watching the waves
breaking on the shore below.

Wind in my hair,
sun on my face
& peace in my heart.

This was one new want
that was actually a true need.

Our mental, spiritual & emotional well being
are as equally important
as our physical well being.

This week also saw the introduction
of the Rule of Six,
in an attempt to stem the spread
of  COVID-19.
