Where do I begin?

Week 41 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

A new month means a new theme
from France Papillon,
which for October is
roots.

The first art journal prompt was
where.

I know where I was born,
but I did not grow up there,
so do not know the place where I was born.

I do not have anywhere which feels like home,
so I often experience the feeling of not belonging,
which gives me a welcomed sense of
freedom & independence.

A new month also means
a new design focus.

Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

this week from

As the COVID 19 virus begins to
spread once more within our country,
I took the opportunity to visit my parents,
before restrictions on our freedom of movement
are reintroduced.

The aim is idealistic,
but we should try,
shouldn't we?

I have used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth &
Life's Journey Pansy patterned paper

Time Out

Week 38 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

The art journal prompt
this week from
France Papillon was
the new want.

This week we took a trip to the coast.
It was the first time this year
that we had seen the sea.

We walked & talked,
had a picnic lunch
sitting high on the sand dunes
watching the waves
breaking on the shore below.

Wind in my hair,
sun on my face
& peace in my heart.

This was one new want
that was actually a true need.

Our mental, spiritual & emotional well being
are as equally important
as our physical well being.

This week also saw the introduction
of the Rule of Six,
in an attempt to stem the spread
of  COVID-19.

A Clear Space

First, may I welcome you &
thank you for taking the time
to visit my blog.

Second, it is all change at Blogger
as they have recently altered
the look of their editing format.

I am gradually learning
how the new system works,
but blog posts are taking longer to write
& may not look quite the same.

This blog post is to document
week 36 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

We have reached another new month,
which means a new art journal theme
from France Papillon.

The first prompt was
unclutter.

For the first time
since lockdown began in March,
we made a trip to the tip,
to clear the pile of rubbish
which had been gradually building up.

A new month also means
a new design focus.

Happiness is ...

Week 33 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

The journal prompt
this week from
France Papillon was
journal patterns.

The words are based around
a quotation by Mandy Hale.

"Happiness is letting go
of what you think
your life is supposed
to look like
& celebrating it
for everything
that it is
."

If this pandemic has taught us one thing,
it is that the future is always uncertain.

Plans have been rearranged,
postponed & cancelled.

Daily life is very different
& there is still no end in sight.

What certainty we do have
is only in the here & now,
the present moment.

To reflect this on my journal page,
I first altered the colour of the butterfly
then inverted the image
to create the large butterfly.

The same, but different,
as we adjust to the new normal.

It has been a very hot week,
daytime temperatures over 30C,
nights over 20C.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& images from
the Graphics Fairy.

There are photo corners
by Paperchase,
printed text &
washi tape.

First Thoughts

Week 32 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

A new month means
a new journal theme from France Papillon
which for August is
patterns.

The first prompt is
first thoughts,
so mine jumped straight to
the template I had designed to use
for this journal.

I used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth
& K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

The images are from
the Graphics Fairy.

A new month also means
a new design focus for my journal,
which for August is
shizen.

There are also
photo corners by Paperchase,
a dictionary definition,
words from an old novel,
printed text &
washi tape.

This week we have been reminded
to keep washing our hands,
to wear a face covering
inside shops & museums
& to keep our distance
from other people.

Finally some doodles.
