Time between Sleeping and Waking

A quick page in my Collage Journal,

inspired by the current Wanderlust online course theme of

Night.

I used another spare page from my Wreck This Journal book.

My brain cannot
process chaos,
whether visual
or audio.

reason & purpose.

splashes of Distress Ink
(broken china)
for the background.

Then Faber-Castell Watercolour pencils
around the edges.

(Blue Neon & Yellow Neon)
mixed with Daler-Rowney Gesso Primer
(White)
with splashes of Distress Inks
(picket fence & pine needles)
for the background.

I also used Faber-Castell Watercolour pencils
around the edges & to add shading.

I am always astounded when I realise
the significance of the pieces
that I have intuitively chosen to use.

These two simple pages are full of personal meaning.

Week six of  Art Jar Self - Edition
had prompts & inspiration from Eliza
about the importance of finding our own
sacred space.

I included one of my photographs from Instagram
with a quotation from Daniell Koepke.

together with a word definition from an old dictionary.

The image below is taken from a photograph
I took a couple of years ago,
which I use as my wallpaper on my iPhone & iPad.

Each time I see this image
it takes me back to the place
where the photograph was taken.

A constant reminder to pause & breathe.

Nurture Prompts

A Simple List for October

This month's
To Do List
inspired by a regular feature in The Simple Things magazine.

Each month they publish a list of things to try.

Pull out your woolly jumpers
& look forward to wearing them.

Put on your boots
& kick up the leaves.

Make an Autumn Salad
with colourful
root vegetables
& leaves.

Go to bed an hour
earlier for a week
before the clocks change.

Watch an old movie you love.

Write a list of words
that describe an Autumn day.

I typed my list on background images
from Emily at Sweetly Scrapped
then adhered to Tim Holtz Resist kraft card.

Each card can be used
as a prompt to try something new,
to go on an adventure that month
or just spark your creative imagination.

The cards measure 7.5 cms by 5.5 cms
& they are kept together in an altered matchbox.
