Worlds that Collide

Week 43 of my
Poetry Reimagined
project in my mixed media collage journal.

I feel the wind changing direction
what once was will never be again
deep sadness finds me welcoming
a nod to time who never stops
to worlds that collide yet never meet

I used the following on this page
of my 7 Gypsies Spiral Book.

Liquitex Clear Gesso,
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils,
Tim Holtz Tissue Tape,
a Tim Holtz Paper Doll,
magazine image (from Daphne's Diary)
& printed text.

I also added to the opposite page,
from the previous week.

Heralding Autumn

Week 42 of my
Poetry Reimagined
project in my mixed media collage journal,
with inspiration from the autumn colours
& the unpredictable weather
we have been experiencing.

Along with the normal blustery October winds,
we have had heavy thundery rainfall
& hail followed by short bursts of sunlight
before the rain starts over again.

new signs loudly herald autumn come
leaves that swirl in blustery winds
rain falling on the sodden ground
we search for glimpses of blue skies and sigh
smiling briefly, remembering warmer, longer days

I used the following on this page
of my 7 Gypsies Spiral Book.

Daler-Rowney white Gesso Primer,
Liquitex Clear Gesso,
Dina Wakley Glazing Medium
(to enhance the colours of the butterfly),
the butterfly image is from The Graphics Fairy,
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils,
a Tim Holtz Paper Doll,
a magazine image (from Daphne's Diary)
& printed text.

This Way & That

Week 41 of my
Poetry Reimagined
project in my mixed media collage journal,
with inspiration from a group of Long-Tailed Tits,
looking for food
on my bare cherry tree this morning.

searching this way and that
bare trees no comfort bring
tail lifted high for balance for a moment
I hear sweet notes of optimism
onward you go with hope in your heart

Daler-Rowney white Gesso Primer,
Faber-Castell watercolour pencils,
a copy of an ICAD from last year,
Tim Holtz Design Tape,
white cotton
& printed text.

Overcoming Obstacles

Time for another Dina Wakley
Year of Gratitude
prompt.

The second prompt is
Obstacles.

The quote is by Christian Larson.

Believe in yourself and all that you are.
Know that there is something inside you
that is greater than any obstacle.

The quotation was printed out
& applied to Dina Wakley Blank Media Tape.

I used Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints,
Lapis, Lemon & Ruby,
mixed with white gesso
applied to an old typing manual,
& a Dina Wakley Media Stencil
(Cellular).

I am working in a small Black Cloth Hardback Sketchbook
by Seawhite of Brighton.

The paper is 140gsm.

The words are cut out from an old edition
of Pride & Prejudice.

Lone Traveller

Week 39 of my
Poetry Reimagined
project in my mixed media collage journal,
with inspiration from the poet Robert Frost.

paths untrodden beneath my feet I take
knowing not where or when, or how or why
distance measured in what ifs
wearily each step I make

I used an image from the Graphics Fairy,
an image from Shawn Petite,
Tim Holtz Tissue Tape,
Dina Wakley Media Glazing Medium
(over the butterflies to enrich the colours)

project in my mixed media collage journal,
with inspiration from poets

unmoved I stand deep in thought
in vain you try to understand
the nonsense in my head
all day and night, this way and that
ceaseless silent whispers

mixed with white gesso
applied to an old typing manual,
magazine images,

Simple Pleasures

Dina Wakley has started
A Year of Gratitude
with a new prompt each month.

The first prompt is
Simple Pleasures.

The simplest of pleasures is time just spent in my studio.

Mixing paints.

Tracing shapes.

Cutting paper.

Finding just the right words to use.

The words are cut out from that old edition
of Pride & Prejudice that I always use.
I love flicking through those pages.

Doodling.

I used Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints,
Lapis, Lemon & Ruby,
mixed with white gesso
applied to an old typing manual,
a Dina Wakley Media Stencil
(Cellular),
& a Fude Ball pen.

I am working in a small Black Cloth Hardback Sketchbook
by Seawhite of Brighton.

(Ruby & Lapis)
