Inspired by wabi sabi

At the end of November
author Beth Kempton
offered a 7 day wellness challenge
based on her extensive research
of the Japanese wisdom of
wabi sabi

As I have been focusing
on Japanese design principles
throughout 2020,
I thought this would be
an apt project to end the year.

I have taken her words
& Thought for the Day,
to create my own keepsake,
to which I can refer
as & when I need to.

The journal is 5½ x 4 inches
with a kraft card cover.

The first topic was
simplifying
&
beautifying.

I have used a Paper Doll
& Pocket Card
from Tim Holtz.

The background image
for my journal card
is from Shawn Petite.

I have also used ribbon,
photocorners
by Paperchase,
gold spotted tissue paper
& printed text.

Thankful

Week 49 in my
Mellow Kraft
Journal
.

The calendar is from
the Graphics Fairy
with a word definition
torn from an old dictionary.

A new month means a new theme
from France Papillon,
which for
December is
closure.

Image from the Graphics Fairy

The first art journal prompt is
attitude
of
gratitude.

A new month also means
a new design focus
kanketsu.

This year, I have been
so grateful for almost daily contact
via the Word with Friends app
with a dear friend.

She has kept me sane.

I have used patterned paper
from Glenda Waterworth &
K-ology Addison patterned paper
from K & Company.

There are photo corners
by Paperchase,
washi tape,
words cut from an old novel
& printed text.
