Charity Postcard Collage Challenge 2023/2024

As I was reorganising my desk
I came across an uncompleted Postcard Challenge
from Contemporary Collage Magazine.

Using no other paper material
than that included in your personal pack,
the challenge was to make a collage
on each of two blank postcards provided.

My first one which I completed
back in March 2023 is entitled
Guide to Creativity

"Have a philosophy of
being creative and
have room for mistakes"

The second completed this month
is entitled
Call me Bob

"Remember, it's all my fault"

There is always enough
collage material left to play with
so I usually create a grid of nine inchies.

Contemporary Collage Magazine publish a limited number
of these challenge booklets with each new edition.

They are sent around the world to 150 collage artists,
with the aim to see how varied the resulting collages are
using identical collage material.

I decided to make a series of collages in a kraft journal.

Each page is 14x14 centimetres.

State of Mind

Pause to Breathe

Meditation

Artistic License

Stop ... I want to get off

Patience

On the edge

Rule of Nine

And now ...

Ordering my thoughts

New Day, Different World

This is what remains from my booklet.

Vintage Magazine Collage

Earlier this month I took part in a collage challenge with
Contemporary Collage Magazine.

They sent me a vintage magazine and five substrates to work on.

They gave me a month to complete the challenge.

I created three collages & submitted them
for publishing in their online magazine.

The magazine I received was
Practical Motorist
from October 1970.

Each collage is 21 x 14.7 centimetres on 2 millimetre thick greyboard.

DRIVE

The first collage is entitled DRIVE.

The prompt I used was
"A collage that represents the theme of your magazine".

It also meets the "A monochromatic collage".

DIAGNOSIS

The second collage is entitled DIAGNOSIS.

The prompt I used was
"A collage that has no reference to the theme of your magazine".

PAGE THREE

The third collage is entitled PAGE THREE.

The prompt for this collage was
"A typographic collage with a message/slogan".
