Content with my Discontent

Week 21 in my mixed media collage journal,
inspired by the new Wanderlust class theme of
Floral.

With lines of poetry by

though I am old with wandering
in hope to find whatever it is I seek
what is meant by happiness
is love so prone to change and rot
must I be content with my discontent

I used Faber-Castell watercolour pencils,
Tim Holtz Design Tape,
an image from the Graphics Fairy
& printed text.

On the seventh day, she rested ...

take time to recharge

It is so important to remember that
you need to rest,
to recharge,
to take some time to stop
& breathe.

Skies of Blue

Week 20 in my mixed media collage journal.

This week the poets did not inspire me,
so instead I captured the memory of a sunny day.

fountain plume flows with trickling sounds
under bright sunlit skies of blue
warming the fading beauty of spring flowers
I watch hurried bees and birds soaring high
I breathe, I rest to take delight in this day

I used Faber-Castell watercolour pencils,
Ranger Perfect Pearls
(Heirloom Gold),
Tim Holtz Design Tape,
images from the Graphics Fairy
(bee, beehives & postcard),
a bird stamp image from Eliza Trojanowska
& printed text.

Lessons for Life Journal

2019 is a year of
rediscovery.

I am going through years of accumulated stuff,
deciding what to keep,
what to recycle &
what to throw away.

I have been rather sentimental in keeping things
that really, I no longer need to hold on to.

The process so far has been interesting,
surprising & freeing.

However I wanted to use some of the lovely cards
I have been sent over the years.

So, I took an old book,
ripped out the pages.

Then I recovered it.

Added in some loose pages.

It will be somewhere to play with collage,
with no theme or challenges to steer me,
just me with my own thoughts,
letting the words & pages come together,
as I sit quietly in my art space.

I know it will become a journal
I will treasure.
