Do not follow ...

This is the first in a digital series, in which I will record my favourite inspirational sayings & quotations.

The frame image is from The Graphics Fairy & the butterfly from Dover.

Birthday Wishes

A greeting card made using delightful decoupage by TC Chiu.

This is from the Country Cottage set, available from Joanna Sheen.

The backing paper was designed by Vanessa Arbuthnutt.

Organza ribbon was used as the finishing touch.

Each layer was cut out & their edges gently sanded before being assembled using Pinflair Glue Gel, which gives dimension without the odour of silicon glue.

Wishi Washi

I've been getting tempted by Washi tape that everyone is currently using, but I couldn't find one I liked. So, I have made faux Washi tapes using my much loved K & Company paper.

I laid some clear matt tape over thin leftover strips of patterned paper. The next stage is the most important, which is to burnish the tape to the paper. I used my bone folder to rub over the back of the paper to press the ink on to the sticky side of the tape.

Then moisten the back & gentle rub away the white backing. Once all the white paper has been removed, what is left is a semi-transparent patterned tape.

These are a few I have made today. I will adhere them to a sheet of double sided adhesive, ready for use.

Quiet Please

I've been finishing off a project I started in July last year.

It's a canvas, covered in torn printed text from an unwanted book. The lady & the inchie squares were taken from a Great Plains brochure.

I used Distress Inks (antique linen to age the printed quote & peeled paint around the edges). The quote is attributed to Richard Alpert.

I used oil pastels to give age & distress to the image of the lady & added a butterfly to her necklace (from The Graphics Fairy).

Two green buttons thread with brown leather cord adds a little visual interest & balance to the other side.

Green Paper Challenge: The Proposal

A tag made using the three vintage images
given to us by Mary Green at Green Paper for her monthly collage challenge.

You can see the original images here.

The base of the tag is mountboard.
I merged the three images into one digitally,
then printed out the altered image
before mounting on a map background
previously provided for one of Mary's monthly collage challenges.

I added a small torn strip of K & Company patterned paper
& a heart shaped brad.
