Stepping out in Style

A digital collage combining two challenges :-

Art Creations Friday, who gave us a sepia image of a lady &
Collage Obsession, who gave us a black & white photograph of an interesting building.

In addition to the two images provided, I also used the following :-

An old magazine advertisement from The Vintage Moth
The face from an image from Crafty Computer Paper
The background image provided for Art Creations Friday
The photograph frame is my own

Sometimes

A digital scrapbook page created for
the January 2010 Digi 101 Class
over on Two Peas in a Bucket.

I used an old family photograph &
the Give Freely kit by The Queen of Quirk.

I have tried to apply the various lessons learnt in the class,
although some options do not seem available
with the software I am currently using.

Journalling was hard as we don't know who the person is in the photograph,
but like me, they don't seem to like being in front of the camera!

I say ...

The challenge set by The Three Muses this week is to use a quotation in our project.

Inspired by this challenge, I made a digital collage based around an old sepia photograph of Sarah Bernhardt as a teenager taken by Felix Nadar.

"Your words are my food, your breath my wine
You are everything to me"
Sarah Bernhardt

The image used was offered as the first challenge on the Collage Obsession challenge blog.

In addition, I used the World Traveller digital kit by Sande Krieger from Two Peas in a Bucket. Sarah was born in Paris, so I thought the french elements of this digital kit were very appropriate. Please click on the image to enlarge to see all the details.

C is for Create

It's the third week of the inchie alphabet challenge at Inchy by Inch so we on the letter C.

The image of the girl is taken from an old photograph from Outsider Artists & the words are torn from an old English Dictionary.

The image was printed on white card & adhered to a mountboard base. The edges were sanded. The dictionary words were inked with Distress Ink (antique linen) & then added to the inchie.

The challenge this week from Art Creations Friday was to use an image of a girl & the background provided in our project.

"Dare to be yourself"

This is a digital collage. In addition to the two images provided, I used a flower image from The Queen of Quirks Give Freely digital kit, available from Two Peas in a Bucket & a brad from Shabby Princess.

Will you give me your Heart?

This is a digital collage using all the elements
provided by Nancy Baumiller
for the Crowabout Challenge.

All the images from week 62 collage sheet
are included in some shape or form.

Additions to this collage include
the full version of the background image Nancy used,
which is from Valeriana Solaris.

Ice White

The new inchie challenge theme set by Nancy on the Small World of Inchies blog* is Snow & Ice.

The inch square was made using background images from The Graphics Fairy & an image of the girl from PaperWhimsy.

I added words cut from an insert that came with last weekend's newspaper. I inked the edges with a little black ink & added three adhesive pearls.

Thank You

A Thank you card.

I used paper & elements designed by Rhonna Farrer, altering the colour to pale yellow, black & gold organza ribbon & delicate touches of sparkle from my clear Sakura stardust pen & glitter gems.

The butterfly image is from Dover. I changed the colour to match the paper used, printed three copies, cut them out, very carefully, edged them with black ink & glazed them. They were layered using Pinflair Glue Gel.

B is for Button

We are on week two of the inchie alphabet challenge at Inchy by Inch so we must be on the letter B.

The image of the girl is taken from an old photograph from Craft Stamper & the words are torn from an old English Dictionary.

After the image was digitally altered, it was printed on white card & adhered to mountboard, with the edges sanded. The dictionary words were inked with Distress Ink (antique linen) & then added to the inchie.

A is for Alter

Fiona at Inchy by Inch has changed the format over on her challenge blog for the next few weeks so that we can make an inchie alphabet.

This will be my third inchie alphabet & I usually make them so that they all
co-ordinate. My second set can be seen here.

So here goes, this is A ... for Alter.

The image of the boy is taken from an old photograph from Craft Stamper & the words are torn from an old English Dictionary acquired from a charity shop just for such a purpose.

After the image was digitally altered, it was printed on white card & adhered to mountboard, with the edges sanded. The dictionary words were inked with Distress Ink (antique linen) & then added to the inchie.

Quite a simple inchie, but the challenge will be whether I can come up with 25 more to match!

Dare to Dream

This week's challenge on Art Creations Friday was to use the image provided in our project.

"Dare to dream and let your dreams take flight"

I used paper & elements designed by Shimelle Laine's from her Long & Winding Road kit available at Two Peas in a Bucket.

The butterfly image is taken from a personal photograph of a Speckled Wood butterfly in my garden.

Happy New year

A Happy New Year card for an old friend, for whom I failed to make a Christmas card this year.

I hope this card goes some way to make amends.

I used paper & elements designed by Rhonna Farrer, altering the colour to pale lilac, black & lilac organza ribbon & delicate touches of sparkle from my clear Sakura stardust pen & glitter gems.

The butterfly image is from Dover. I changed the colour to match the paper used, printed three copies, cut them out, very carefully, edged them with black ink & glazed them. They were layered using Pinflair Glue Gel.

New Year Adventure

With my aim to make more inchies this year, I have made one for the Small World of Inchies blog* challenge, which is on the theme of Happy New Year.

Beginning a new year is certainly a new adventure. Who knows what the year will bring, where it will take me & what exciting adventures I will have on the way!

The inch square was made using images from The Graphics Fairy & white mountboard as the base, with the edges sanded.

I added words cut from an insert that came with the weekend newspaper. I inked the edges with a little black ink & added four pale blue glitter gems.

Angel Face Tag

Further to my post on The Three Muses challenge yesterday, I have now printed out the digital image on white 160gsm paper, torn the edges & inked with Distress Ink (walnut stain).

It was mounted on K&Company patterned paper designed by Brenda Walton, onto a mountboard base, with the edges sanded & inked with Distress Ink.

I added three gold coloured brads & some red & cream polka dot grosgrain ribbon.

The ends of the ribbon were frayed to add to the vintage style.

Memories

This week's challenge on Art Creations Friday was to use the image provided in our project.

I adapted the image to create a digital collage, with just a few additions as the image was so wonderful just by itself.

Art Creations Friday

Another revisit to past challenges set by Art Creations Friday, this time using the background image from Week 37 & the image of the girl from Week 45.

The wording is from a letter image from Craft Stamper, the border is from my own photograph of a piece of lace & the butterfly is from Crafty Computer Paper.

I have used this background before & you can see how different it looks on the art piece for Week 48 by clicking here.

The previous piece makes use of the colours & patterns of the original image, whereas today's piece takes advantage of the lovely textural elements of parts of the original canvas.
